Real estate is often seen as a fast-paced, high-reward career. And while that’s true, it’s only a small part of the story.
Behind the viewings, deals and social media highlights is a role that demands consistency, resilience and a willingness to put in the work day in, day out.
At Liv Squared Properties, we believe in being clear about both sides of a role as a real estate broker – the opportunity and the reality – so that the people who join us are set up to succeed.
The opportunity
There’s no denying that Dubai real estate offers significant opportunity. Dubai continues to attract people from all over the world, creating a dynamic and fast-moving property market. For those willing to commit, the rewards can be substantial – both financially and professionally.
It’s a career where your results are directly linked to the effort that you put in. You can build strong client relationships, grow your network and create long-term success.
But the outcomes don’t happen overnight.
The reality
When a candidate comes to us having never worked in real estate before, the first thing we tell them is that real estate is not a standard 9-5 job.
It involves long hours, evening viewings and weekend work. Clients expect responsiveness, and being available when needed is part of the job. If you are not taking the call, then it’s likely your competitor will be.
There will also be rejection; missed deals, clients who change their minds and situations that don’t always go to your plan. As our Talent & Recruitment Manager, Victoria, puts it “it’s probably not as easy as you think. You need confidence, dedication and resilience.”
This isn’t to discourage people, but it’s to be clear and give you time to think if this is a career you are actually cut out for. We know from experience, that those brokers who understand the reality are the ones who are most likely to succeed.
What it takes to succeed
Success in real estate isn’t just about sales ability, in fact that’s often a small part of the role.
At Liv Squared, the brokers who succeed have the following traits and characteristics.
- Consistency
- Strong communication
- Confidence under pressure
- Resilience when things don’t go their way
- A willingness to take on feedback and keep improving
Those who approach the role with the right mindset, and a long-term view, are the ones who build lasting careers. Real estate used to be a role that people would just ‘give it a go’, they might strike lucky on a couple of deals and then they move on to something else – they just came into it for a quick buck. We see less of this now and the switch has really changed to those who work hard, put the effort it and build stable careers for themselves and their family.
A clear pathway
At Liv Squared, we have always worked on the ethos of selectively hiring. We don’t just bring people into the industry to give them a go, we actively support them in building a career within it.
That means we have a clear 90 day plan for every broker that joins us, ongoing weekly training and a ‘career progression pathway’ that every individual can work towards.
More than just the highlights
It’s easy to focus on the visible side of real estate, but the real success comes from the work behind the scenes.
We believe in being really honest about that because when people understand what it really takes, they’re far more likely to build something meaningful and sustainable.
If you’re looking for a role that challenges you, pushes you and offers real opportunity then real estate can be incredibly rewarding. But it does requires commitment.
For those willing to put in the work, the path is there – and with the right support around you, it’s a career that can truly grow with you.
